PROJECT: Dreamscape

Dreamscape is a 3D roguelike hack-and-slash with a twist of building your own map as you strengthen yourself through endless waves of increasing enemies. This project was developed over an entire school year in a student-led studio of over 100.

CONCEPTING

Focused on concepting the visuals of the potential biomes that were planned by the Game Design department. I was eventually assigned to focus on the "Lava Biome".

MODELING

Next step was to begin creating 3D models of our concepts. The production manager gave out certain assets to model for the next 2 weeks. Each model took roughly 15-20 minutes to create.

TEXTURING

After modeling came texturing for my and other models for implementing into the game. Below is also an example of how I learned to texture on Blender using the paint material brush tool which took about 10 minutes to learn and 20-30 minutes to complete.

ANIMATING

I was then tasked to animate pre-rigged models like this enemy model below. Prior to this, I had no experience in animating with Blender, so I spent almost 3-4 hours following Blender tutorials on how to animate. These animations for the "Charger" enemy took about 10-15 hours to create 7 different actions: Jab rush, Winddown, Staggered, Jab, Dazed, Idle and Charge.
